Altar for Jenni Rivera

Stained glass, mirror, solder, chain, wood, light, mixed media, 12ft x 8ft x 3ft

Created for an exhibition by the California Museum featuring altars honoring deceased Californians, this piece pays tribute to Jenni Rivera, an iconic figure in Mexican American culture and a surrounding influence on my upbringing in Los Angeles. The altar includes illuminated stained glass structures resembling candles, golden clouds symbolizing her welcome into the skies, and offerings.
